Sun, as you can see below, is one
of the most heavily reproduced labels. A large majority of
these are extremely good. Hopefully, an awareness of what has been reproduced
will make you
more critical in any dealings with these records. Certain facts do apply
to the label in general,
and should be of some help in making a determination. Originals within the
scope of this Web site
have brown print. Later Sun issues have a label design somewhat
different than that pictured above.
The label does not have notes completely around the circumference of the label,
and has Sun
International at the bottom. Elvis Presley records with a shiny
label are reproductions. Some
originals had small circles in the shape of a triangle beneath the label that
you could feel,
so you would be safe with those.
